Infinity - Sewer Run

“Did you hear that?”

A quizzical look was the only response from his tall companion. A ridiculous question to ask some one who wore headphones that doubled as speakers.

The hooded man turned down the side path slowly; bringing his assault rifle up slightly and into his shoulder. Peering through the murky gloom he saw the flicker of a shadow. With a quick thought and the manipulation of an internal energy strand, a slight green glow appeared from the psions normally brown eyes. His green tinted vision now pierced clearly through the darkness.

“What is it?” Asked the pale companion, decreasing the music volume and moving the headphones down around his neck.

“Probably nothing.” Said the first man, slightly lowering the barrel of his weapon.

“Why do you always do that?” The fanged man shifted in his pause. “You freak out, say its nothing, then all of sudden that nothing charges up and…” As the companion was predicting, a slimy four legged creature burst from the knee deep sewer water only a few feet in front of the pair.

“SHIT!” Was the rest of his sentence as in a flash he drew two handguns from his waist and began firing.

Tearing into the dark robed mans chest with razor claws, the creature forced him down under the water. With a vicious, wet tearing sound, the creature leapt at the companion. Small bolts of energy zipped through the thick, dank air searing small burn streaks over the creatures’ body.

As the monster struck the companion square in the chest he stumbled back, dropping his weapons. With superior initiative and reflex, the blue eyed companion responded to the creatures assault with a solid right-hook into the side of its head. The creature slumped down half in a daze.

A buzzing sound came from seemingly no-where and it rapidly increased in pitch and volume. As it peaked there was an explosive sound and the discharged of a large amount of energy from an assault rifle. The creature was torn to shreds and the first man stood at the source of the sound, soaked in blood and sewer water.

“You know, that could get infected if you’re not careful.” The tall man sarcastically pronounced.
